Welcome to Division 11
About Ms. Dvorak:
Long, long ago, in the woods far away, I grew up on the shores of Kootenay Lake. Pictured above is the small, rural elementary school that both my father and I attended. Many more years ago than I would care to admit to, I graduated from LV Rogers Secondary in Nelson, BC. I went on to Selkirk College where I met my future husband in a Calculus class. We both moved to the Okanagan and went to OUC. I received a degree in Literature and Creative Writing. I have a few short stories and poems tucked away in some Canadian literary magazines and worked for several small publications including "Touch the Flame: stories from the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire" as an editor and publisher. I have worked all kinds of different jobs: from customer service, to a book store clerk, to managing a restaurant and active community volunteer. Our family has moved around a bit, living mostly in Western Canada, with sojourns in Kelowna BC, Nelson BC, Castlegar BC, Medicine Hat AB, and a brief time in Wytheville, Virginia. But no other place has felt more like home than Vancouver Island. Nothing beats the fresh sea air and the abundance of sea life.
In 2009, my family supported me in going back to school to get a degree in education. I chose to specialize in the middle school age group because I enjoy the energy youth have to offer. I have worked as a TTOC in the Sooke School District, Journey Middle School teaching Art and FSL, then I taught for two years out at Port Renfrew Elementary. This is my third year teaching grade 7 at Journey Middle School and I am excited to be working with you!.
